CYW leading education and housing policy conversations at CPC23

Updated: Nov 28, 2023

CYW had a busy time in Manchester organising two panels on important issues for young women.

On Sunday, we were joined by Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education. In a packet session, chaired by Alexandra Marsanu, CYW National Chair, Gillian covered a wide range of topics which included reform of technical education, the introduction of the Apprenticeship levy, lifelong skills and of course career paths in politics.

On Tuesday, we had an excellent panel on housing with Rachel Maclean MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Elly Hoult, COO, Peabody housing association, Cllr Aisha Cuthbert, Head of External Affairs, Riverside housing association and Cllr Amber Dunbar, Chair of Housing and Community Development committee on Moray Council.

Finally, also on Tuesday, we were invited to join Digital Tories on an event on the Online Safety Bill with the Rt Hon Baroness Nicky Morgan (Former Financial Secretary), HM Treasury Donna Jones (Police and Crime Commissioner - Hampshire & Isle of Wight), Sarah-jane Sewell (Director - DigitalTories), Anna Edmundson (Charity/NGO - NSPCC), Anne Longfield CBE (Chair - Commission on Young Lives). The event was introduced by our National Chair, Alexandra Marsanu.
